The old Woodlands Country Club at 4600 Woodlands Blvd. was bought by 13th Floor Homes, which announced a 270 acre community of 335 single-family homes with more than 160 acres of open space and lakes. Work was set to start in 2024, with the first homes planned from late 2025.

Grading, clearing brush and digging up old irrigation lines disturbs rodents that lived quietly along the fairways for decades. Norway rats (Rattus norvegicus) and roof rats move to the nearest food and shelter, and that is often the established Woodlands homes around the course.

If you live next to the site, the time to seal your house is before the activity spikes, not after you hear scratching. Sealing early is simpler than an attic cleanup later.

The same thing happens wherever an old Tamarac golf course or empty lot gets rebuilt. Any big earth moving project nearby is a good reason to check your roofline.
